“I have a 6 hour layover at Suvarnabhumi Airport in Bangkok. Anything to do for fun near the area?”
Suvarnabhumi has several interesting attractions, although it is still small and new on the tourist list. The most popular areas are located not far from the Suvarnabhumi Airport.
Samut Prakan Crocodile Farm has tens of thousands of crocodiles, making it the largest such farm in the world. The farm puts on entertaining and educational shows daily. You will also find other animals participating in the shows here, including big cats and elephants. The farm is about thirty kilometers away from Bangkok.
The Ancient City does its best to display some of the grandeur and beauty of Thailand and includes models of major Thai landmarks. The largest feature of the Ancient City is a series of fine gardens shaped like the country.
Over one hundred years old, the Talat Klongsuan Roi Pee market is home to a series of small shop houses made of wood which sell local cuisine as well as a variety of other products. There are cafes here, too, making a visit to the Klongsuan Market convenient and comfortable. It is located beside a canal and has an atmosphere that calls to mind bygone times in the nation’s past.
Suvarnabhumi doesn’t have the array of restaurants many other areas of Bangkok enjoy. There are a number of street stalls around the airport that serve Thai favorites. Aside from these, there are some chain restaurants and casual dining along the roads. You will also find that many of the hotels have dining venues of their own that offer good meals and a chance to relax. Cuisine varies from Thai to internationally-inspired dishes.
