Pattaya is the place to be if you are looking for a party.
When the sun goes down, it time to hit up the beer bars, discos, go-gos and massage parlors.
While simply strolling after 8 p.m. is apt to find you whatever you are looking for, there are some destinations worth a look. Here are seven top places to visit after dark in Pattaya:
Cheap and loud, Pattaya’s beer bars are legendary. Most are simply a few stools and speakers arranged around a bar in open corrugated sheds. They are clustered around Walking Street and Beach Road and there are many to choose from. The noise begins in the late afternoon.
Walking Street’s famous neon-clad stretch of bars and massage parlors offers loud music, freely-flowing alcohol, bar games and raunchy shows. Whether you partake or not, it’s a scene not to be missed.
For a more traditional experience, the discos along Pattaya Beach Road offer American hip-hop and Thai pop at ear-splitting volume. Go after 9 p.m. Try Lucifer Disco TK or Club Insomnia.
Another must-see in Pattaya is the local cabaret, featuring elaborate stage sets and a glamorous explosion of color, light, sound and performance. Shows generally last an hour. Try Tiffany’s or Alcaza.
On Saturdays, the Hard Rock Hotel in north Pattaya fills a pool with foam and lets’ the good times roll. Kids are invited for the festivities from 5 p.m. to 6:30 p.m. The Beach Foam X Party for adults is well underway by 9:30 p.m.
Those looking for quieter entertainment can visit the open-front bars along Soi 7, Jomtien Complex, Thappaya Road and Soit Whitehouse. It’s a place to relax with a drink—and it is popular. Expect a crowd.
Part of the entertainment on Walking Street and Beach Road is Muay Thai, the Thai martial art. Visitors can watch matches—and the brave can even participate. Matches generally start at 7 p.m. and run into the night.
