The capital of Krabi Province, Krabi Town offers a variety of small restaurants and eateries that are atmospheric and offer great food for good prices. From Thai and seafood to European and South American dishes, there’s enough variety in this small town to please anyone’s palate. It’s hard to pick just a few great places to highlight, but these restaurants are sure to help you have a great meal.
Also known as the floating restaurant, this cool restaurant is located in the water and can be accessed by a small bridge. Relaxed and offering delicious seafood and traditional Thai, you’ll have a memorable experience dining at Ruan Pae. It is open every day from 5 p.m. to 10 p.m.
Another laidback venue, Gecko Cabane is located a little ways of Maharaj Road and serves Thai dishes as well as some fusion food based on Asian cuisine. Vegetarian Thai dishes are a specialty here and the service is great. With a nice Thai atmosphere, Gecko Cabane serves great spicy food as well as milder dishes. It’s open every day from 7:30 in the morning to 11:30 p.m.
Right on the river, Bai Toey Seafood Restaurant offers great fare in a relaxed and attractive setting. Not far from Thara Park or Chao Fah Pier, this restaurant serves only Thai food and of course the focus is on fresh seafood dishes. It’s a great local choice for some real Krabi Town cuisine. On Tuesdays the restaurant is open from 4 p.m. to 10 p.m. and the rest of the week it is open from 10 a.m. to 10 p.m.
The Chao Fah Night Market consists of a number of food vendors who set up shop along Kongka Road, near Chao Fah Pier. The vendors prepare delicious and inexpensive local foods, most especially seafood. It’s a great place to sample some new dishes and experience an interesting part of Thai life. It’s open every day from 5 p.m. until late into the night when the last seller leaves.
This pizzeria, restaurant, and bar is the place to get Italian in Krabi Town. Featuring all the delicious Italian dishes you could ask for, Viva Da Renato is a friendly and attractive restaurant where you can fill up on bread, wine, and both meat and vegetarian pastas. It opens at 10 a.m. and closes at 11 p.m.
Serving wonderful local Thai dishes, Ruen Mai is a restaurant built of great local materials to match its offerings. Wooden and thatched, it’s an excellent spot to head to feel like you’re really dining Thai-style. An added bonus is that it is located away from town, just over a mile from the downtown area. Seafood is, of course, a specialty and there are many other dishes with a focus on vegetarian ingredients. It is open from 10 in the morning until 10 at night.
Simple but delicious, Mr. Krab-I has been popular in Krabi Town for some time. Serving both Italian and Thai dishes, you can get delicious pasta and seafood here. Portions are big and the service is personable, quick, and professional. It opens at 10 a.m. and closes at 11 p.m. and is located on Chao Fah Road.
