7 Awesome Things To Do at Koh Lanta

Koh Lanta offers beautiful, almost private beaches, rich wildlife, small villages, and plenty of room to explore. Koh Lanta is quieter than many other areas but still offers plenty of fun activities. Make the most of your stay in tropical Thailand by visiting Koh Lanta, where you can engage with the friendly locals or with no one at all on a quite beach with just the sand and waves.

Here are some of the top activities for visitors to Koh Lanta:

1. Elephant Rides (Elephant Trekking)

What better way to explore some of Koh Lanta than on an elephant? Join an elephant trek tour (available from several different companies) and make your way through the forests. It’s an experience you will never forget. Led by an experienced guide, you will be surrounded by tropical plants, birds, and beautiful views as you ride on the back of one of these incredible animals.

2. Dive and Snorkel

Diving and snorkeling are two of the most popular activities throughout Thailand’s islands, especially on Koh Lanta. The Andaman Sea offers a rich marine environment with clear turquoise water, bright tropical fish, and precious reefs like no others on earth.

3. Take a Cooking Class

Cooking classes are widely available on Lanta’s beaches and are often surprisingly thorough and high-quality. By attending one of these classes, you will learn to make some great Thai food of your own. These classes are often led by very experienced instructors and sometimes take place within restaurants. Drinks are often included, so have fun.

4. The East Coast Road

The East Coast Road is a great route to take on your tour of Koh Lanta. Hire a motorbike or car and get ready for the amazing scenery. You can also elect to join a more formal organized tour to hear from real experts. The Old Town is a popular site, as is the sea gypsy village, but of course there is something to admire everywhere you look.

5. Lanta Muay Thai Gym

If you are looking to learn more about Muay Thai or practice your moves, head to the Lanta Gym. Some of the trainers who work here are world-class fighters from all over the country. There are trainers available to teach you no matter what your skill level, and even children are welcomed.

6. Thai Massage

Massages are a Thai specialty and you will see advertisements all over the islands. Koh Lanta has a wide range of spas available, from little beach front shacks to deluxe resort-style spas. The more expensive spas are typically more western in their style, so for a truly Thai experience you should ask for recommendations and visit a good local massage shack on the beach.

7. Yoga

Yoga classes are found in several places on Koh Lanta. Practicing this art of the body and mind amidst the idyllic island surroundings maybe just what you need to truly unwind.
