Mai Khao Beach is very quiet and you may find yourself feeling totally secluded here. This is the longest beach in Phuket and it is perfect for beach lovers – it’s the opposite of crowded and has great sand and water. Here are some things to do in the Mai Khao Beach area:
The Turtle Village in Mai Khao is a shopping area spread over two floors. There is also a restaurant and bar here. The shopping center sells many different products including clothing and souvenirs. There are also some outlet stores here. The village is open from 10 a.m. to 9 p.m. each day.
Mai Khao Beach and Nai Yang Beach are both part of Sirinath National Park. Some of the waters at the northern end can be dangerous during monsoon season, so watch out. The sea turtles who you can still spot here are sadly in decline. They come here to lay their eggs between November and February. Conservation efforts are ongoing and it is hoped that the turtles may see an increase in numbers in the future. Currently, many eggs are removed after being laid so that they be watched over and hatch in safe areas.
The Splash Jungle Water Park offers fun for all ages. With great water slides and rides, this park on the beach is a good choice if you need a break from just relaxing on the beach.
