What To Do When it Rains in Phuket

On rainy days in Phuket, many people seem to stay inside, but the lack of crowds offers a great opportunity to see some cool attractions no matter what the weather. From the spas to cooking glasses, from the aquarium to wildlife, there’s plenty to do on a rainy day in Phuket.

1. Tiger Kingdom

Phuket’s Tiger Kingdom offers the chance to get close to the magnificent creatures. The tigers here have been raised in captivity from birth and they are amazing to see. The tigers are of different ages and are usually sleepy, but it’s great to see them up close in a healthy environment.

2. Phuket Aquarium

Phuket’s aquarium houses a variety of marine life, particularly the colorful fish that inhabit the waters of the area. There’s a clear tunnel and the glass displays allow you to see these beautiful fish up close. A visit here is great for people of all ages, but is especially a good way to entertain kids on a rainy day.

3. Movie Theaters and Bowling

Jungceylon Shopping Mall as well as Big C both offer bowling alleys. You can also go see a movie at SFX Cinema at Central Shopping Mall in Phuket Town. These theaters feature some of the latest movies as well as some older showings. Nearby there are many cafes and restaurants as well as stores to shop at nearby.

4. Museums in Phuket

Check out one of several interesting museums in Phuket. They appeal to a variety of interests and are easy to get to. The Thalang National Museum details some history of the Phuket area and for another glimpse of the past check out some of the town’s colonial architecture. It won’t cost much and makes for a fun day out.

5. Jungceylon Shopping Mall in Patong

The Jungceylon Shopping Mall in Patong Beach is a great place to spend rainy day. A big variety of goods are available, including clothes, housewares, antiques, souvenirs, and more. You will also find a small museum, a movie theater, a bowling alley, and more.

6. Cooking Classes

Taking a Thai cooking class will teach you new skills that you can take home with you and are a lot of fun. Taught by experts in the cuisine, these classes are sometimes held in very good restaurants and are usually small and intimate. Classes are available for both adults and children, and it’s a good way to meet other travelers.

7. Spas

Phuket has tons of great spas ranging from the basic to the very-high end. Whether a local stand or attached to a luxury resort, these spas offer massages, facials, steam rooms, and beauty treatments of all kinds. Thai and western massages are available along with manicures, body scrubs, and herbal treatments, so treat yourself.
