How to Get to Pattaya from Bangkok

Pattaya is easily accessible from Bangkok, which is just 150 kilometers away. A bus, taxi or plane can get you there.

Busses are the most popular. From the Eastern Bus Terminal in Bangkok, air-conditioned busses leave every 30 minutes from 5:20 a.m. to 11:20 p.m. and cost about 200 baht. Busses also depart from the Northern Bus Terminal and Southern Bus Terminal. The trip takes about two hours, though it could be longer, depending on traffic.

A train is available weekdays at 6:50 a.m. at Hualamphong Station, but the trip takes three hours.

Mini vans are also available, arranged by hotels and travel agencies, for about 400 baht per person. This is generally door-to-door service, picking you up at your hotel in Bangkok and dropping you at your hotel in Pattaya. Taxis will offer the same service for about 1,500 baht plus tolls, though gypsy cabs will often cut that fare by a third.

If traveling to Pattaya from Suvarnabhumi International Airport, busses, taxis and limos are all available. Make sure you have agreed on a fair before entering the taxi.  The price can range from 1,300 – 3,000 baht.

Of course, car rentals are also available from local and national agencies, for those who want to do their own driving.

You can also fly from Bangkok to the Pattaya airport, but considering that the Pattaya airport is 45 minutes taxi ride to the Pattaya city, many visitors don’t go this route.
