7 Best Places to Eat on Railay Beach

Casual and relaxed, Railay has a dining scene to match. With a sort of Bohemian atmosphere, these restaurants don’t neglect to give their best efforts to your meal. You can get good food, good drinks, and have a good time day or night at Railay’s laid-back but hip restaurants. Though somewhat more expensive than what you will find elsewhere, thanks to Railay’s relative isolation, most of these restaurants are affordable and all have options for the budget-conscious. Order Thai, seafood, Indian, and western dishes and enjoy.

1. The Lucky Last Bar

This Railay East bar is no longer the last bar on the footpath, but its old name remains. Here you can get good great Thai and western dishes for good prices, especially the drinks. The restaurant and bar are open late but also serves breakfast and lunch, opening at 8 a.m. Kids are welcome and the restaurant also sometimes has live music and hosts full moon parties, along with Muay Thai shows during the busy season.

2. The Grotto

This is a beautiful restaurant set inside of a limestone cave that opens out onto the beach. The perfect place for a romantic dinner as well as a casual drink, the Grotto is part of the Rayavadee Resort between Ao Phra Nang and Railay West. Very nice at sunset, they serve Thai and global dishes and have wine, cocktails. Unsurprisingly, this restaurant is one of the more expensive around Railay.

3. Mangrove Restaurant

This restaurant is conveniently located between Railay East and Railay West. It’s designed and decorated in Thai beach style, with a thatched roof and plenty of bamboo. Their prices are affordable and the Thai food is great, especially the seafood. They open at 9 a.m. and stay open until late into the night.

4. Railay Bay Restaurant

Railay Bay Restaurant looks out onto West Railay Beach and is a great place to go if you’re looking for good food and a nice view. Very laid-back, the restaurant serves Thai and international food and offers desserts. They are open from 7 a.m. to 10 p.m., so you’re welcome to come and watch the world go by almost any time of day.

5. Tom Yum Goong

Tom Yum Goong is one of northern Railay East’s restaurants, located a little distant from the beachfront but not too far. Decorated in a very causal and basic style, Tom Yum Goong is a perfect place to get some good Thai food without fuss or expense. They are open from breakfast through dinner and offer plenty of both Thai and western options. The restaurant closes at 10 p.m.

6. Utopia International Delights

Utopia International Delights has a lot of offer besides its many Thai, Indian, and western dishes. Here you’ll find a movie screen (with a free show playing every night), a bamboo-stick tattoo parlor, and a yoga center. Especially noted for its good Indian food, Utopia has good prices and offers those extra opportunities to improve your night out. It is located between Railay West and Railay East and opens at 7 a.m.

7. Pranang Cuisine

Pranang Cuisine is actually part of a multi-faceted business that includes a massage parlor, cooking school, and touring agency. The restaurant has a large selection of international Thai dishes, and the quality is wonderful. The prices are moderate but reasonable, and dining here offers a great opportunity to sign up for a class or get a Thai massage. They also have Wi-Fi, so it is a good spot if you have a little work to do.
