Nightlife Guide for Railay Beach Thailand
Railay is a very active at night during the tourist high season. Activities include parties, fire dancing, music, boxing, dining, and just hanging out. There’s a big difference in the styles of the two largest beaches, Railay West and Railay East. East has more music and entertainment, although neither beach is as active as some other areas. West is a great place to just chill out and appreciate the beauty of the night.
Located across from Joy Beach Bar (below), Skunk’s Bar is a two-story bar that is relaxed and casual. With plenty of cushions to lay back and chat with friends, it’s a great place to just hang out and talk. They do have a DJ and a bamboo-stick tattoo parlor, so there is more to do than chat. Open late, Skunk Bar is a nice venue on the beachfront.
Joy Beach Bar
Joy Beach Bar is famous for its cocktails and is one of the most well-established bars on the beachfront. It is spacious and has many areas to lounge and relax. The food ranges from Thai dishes to pizza, and the views from the restaurant are beautiful. It has Wi-Fi as well as nice music and good service, so if you’re looking for a guaranteed good hang-out place in Railay East, head here.
Lucky Restaurant & Last Bar
This establishment has a tattoo studio and holds great moon parties during the high season, especially during the full moon. One of the better party spots in Railay East, Lucky Restaurant & Last Bar are open all day and stays open late into the night. The music is good and it has a bit of a rave-style at night, though visitors with kids are welcome to bring them to the restaurant in the day and evening before the real music gets started.
Railay West is well-known for its beautiful cliffs that are best seen at sunset. Perfect for photographs, the cliffs are limestone and make a striking view. There are plenty of bars here, so choose one and have at it. During the busy season there are more parties and entertainments such as fire dancing.
Utopia International Delights
Utopia International Delights is an interesting nightspot. Not just a restaurant and bar, it also offers a tattoo studio (bamboo-stick style), yoga area, and a movie screen where you can see a free film every night. The food is international and includes European and Indian dishes in addition to Thai. The décor is very laid back, since the building is made from bamboo and various found materials. Open from 10 a.m. until late at night, this is a great place to come hang out in a place that offers some extra bonuses.
Flame Tree Restaurant
Flame Tree Restaurant is another relaxed restaurant that is located right in the middle Railay West. Made of bamboo, wood, and featuring a metal roof, here you can get Thai and western food as well as plenty of drinks. There is a huge cocktail menu and you can also get coffee and smoothies. It’s open from 8 a.m. until late.
