Chiang Mai offers a great deal to do after dark, whether you are looking to relax or get the party started – the Chiang Mai Nightlife will not disappoint.
From the trendy club zone off Nimmanhaemin Road to the strip clubs outside the Tha Pae gate, there is entertainment to suit all tastes.
Here are 7 great places to go after dark in Chiang Mai:
Charoenrat Road, parallel to the River Ping, plays home to a number of clubs that offer live music of all kinds, from jazz and soul to reggae and rock. Good food and a river view complete the evening.
Chiang Mai’s Night Bizarre offers a blizzard of shopping, street food and drinking. It’s a great place to have a bite, pick up a souvenir and do some people watching. Several walk-in bars and pubs offer a place to rest.
The hippest part of Chiang Mai may be Nimmanhaemin Road, with its boutiques, artsy cafes, galleries and hotels. And don’t forget the clubs and restaurants—enough to find whatever you are looking for. For dancing and live music, try the Monkey Club on Soi 9. For a younger crowd, try Warm Up opposite Soi 17.
Like most major cities in Thailand, Chiang Mai has a lively cabaret scene. There are several, but try the Blue Moon Cabaret on Moon Muang Road.
For those looking to lay back and relax a bit, the bars and pubs inside the city wall provide a more subdued experience. Try the THC Rooftop Bar opposite the Tha Pae Gate or the U.N. Irish Pub on Ratvithi Road.
Out the Tha Pae gate en route to the Night Bazarre are a collection of loud go-go bars, with girls outside beckoning customers. For something more laid back, try the Foxy Lady A Go Go.
With the giant red neon sign proclaiming “Free Show,” the C.M. Entertainment Complex is entirely dedicated to adult entertainment, with more than 30 girlie bars; a Mui Thai martial arts stadium, with free shows most nights; and a cabaret. The music is pumping and the drinks are flowing. This is not a family destination.
