Chiang Mai

The 7 Best Bars & Nightclubs in Chiang Mai

Chiang Mai offers a great deal after dark, from thumping clubs to quiet corner bars offering a place to relax. And cabaret. And Muay Thai. And go-go bars.

Whatever you are looking for, you can find it here.

For those who want examples, here are seven examples of Chiang Mai’s nightlife attractions:

Van Bars

Here’s a quirky element of Chiang Mai’s nightlife: full-size vans converted to pubs, complete with bar, music and seating. There’s not much to them, but they are good for a drink and a photo.

Warm Up

A classic Thai college bar, drinks at Warm Up are sold by the bottle and locals are much in evidence. Live music is offered Saturdays and Sundays.

THC Bar

With cushions and low tables, the rooftop bar offers a great view of the city and surrounding markets.

The U.N. Irish Pub

Known locally as “The Irish,” the U.N. Irish Pub is a gathering place for Chiang Mai’s expat community. It’s a great place to have a drink and a meal.

Chiang Mai Saloon

A western-style burger joint, the place offers ample portions and 55-baht margaritas.

Loi Kroh Go-Go Strip

Out the Tha Pae gate en route to the Night Bazarre are a collection of loud go-go bars, with girls outside beckoning customers. For something more laid back, try the Foxy Lady A Go Go.

Spicy Nightclub

Spicy Nightclub has a rather mundane claim to fame: it is the last place to close in Chiang Mai. Arrive before midnight and you’ll find an empty club. But after everyplace else closes, it will fill up with a diverse crowd who come to keep the party going with pounding dance music.
