Red Bull Started in Thailand

There’s no doubt, Thailand is an interesting place with an interesting history. The following facts probably won’t change your life much, but sometimes it’s good to know random shit about other countries: .

1- Red Bull Started in Thailand

That’s right, the classic energy drink that “gives you wings” got its start in Thailand 40 years ago. The original formula is not the same as what caught on in the Western market: the original creators modified the taste from its syrupy Thai version to a more Western-friendly flavor.

The original Red Bull is still sold in Thailand.

Fun Fact– If you are the grandson of the Red Bull creator, you can kill a police offer, bribe another to take the blame, get caught for bribery, and still get away with murder without spending one day in jail.

2- Bangkok is the Hottest City in the World

Bangkok’s yearly average air temperature is 82.4 degrees Fahrenheit (28c). In its hottest months, Bangkok averages around 34 degrees Celsius – about 93 Fahrenheit.

Those are average temperatures. Bangkok can get must hotter than that on certain days.

3- Bangkok’s Real Name is the Longest of Any City in the World

If someone asks what the capital of Thailand is, the easy answer is to say “Bangkok.”

But if you want to get really crazy, you can call Bangkok by its true name, “Krungthepmahanakhon Amonrattanakosin Mahinthara Yutthaya Mahadilok Phop Noppharat Ratchathani Burirom Udom Ratchaniwet Mahasathan Amonphiman Awatansathit Sakkathattiya Witsanukamprasit.”

Which translates to: “The city of angels, great city of immortals, magnificent city of nine gems, seat of the king, city of royal palaces, home of the gods, erected by Visvakarman at Indra’s behest.”

4- Thai Coins Contain Interesting Information

Every Thai coin features a picture of a major temple in Bangkok. These temples tend to be major tourist attractions, and most of the locals know exactly where they can be found.

So if you are doing the tourist stuff and want some ideas where to visit, take a look at a couple coins and ask a friendly Thai where that temple is located.

5- It is Illegal to Leave Your Home Without Underwear

Yeah, you read that right. Got to love Thailand 🙂
